Kowhai Festival Movie Night
Saturday 19 October 2019 – Shoesmith Domain (lowest field), Hill Street, Warkworth
The Greatest Showman
We’re proud to celebrate the 50th Kowhai Festival with a very special Kowhai Festival Movie Night: ’The Greatest Showman’ (PG) with Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams and Zac Efron. The movie – going along with the Kowhai Festival as entertainment spectacle per se – starts just after 8pm while there will be some relaxing music and a coffee stall from 7pm. Families are welcome to bring their own picnic. As the ground might still be a bit damp it’s probably a good idea to bring a chair or some seating as well as some warm clothes.
’The Greatest Showman’ is a 2017 American musical Drama with a biographical background of P.T. Barnum’s creation of the Barnum & Bailey Circus and the lives of its star attractions. The film has great entertaining value and its songs invite to sing along, as a number of them became chart hits. It was released in the United States on December 20, 2017, seven months after Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus ceased to exist, and grossed over $434 million worldwide, making it the fifth-highest grossing live-action musical of all time.
The Kowhai Festival Movie Night is sponsored by Barfoot & Thompson Real Estate, Warkworth and Mangawhai as well as the Rodney Local Board and supported by Mahurangi Matters and MoreFM Rodney. The Warkworth based ‘The Travelling Cinema Company’ is again in charge of the show with the biggest outdoor screen in the country, which is 18m wide and 11m high. The company was established in 2003 and was the first big screen outdoor exhibitor in the country.
